At least shearing has finished for the year, always a relief.
The weather was kind, not too many hot days.
Today however it looks like being a schorcher, 10am and already 34 degrees here.
So the house is shut up and we will stay inside for most of the day.
Our wool cut was down but sheep prices are up so can’t complain.
We still have sheep to load on the truck early next week, and that is the last of the sheep work we do for a while, except for some summer drenching of the lambs.
.
So my adult dogs will have a rest and I can asses some of my young dogs. Balto has gotten a little out of control and needs to be worked in a smaller yard to be reminded that stop really does mean stop. I will also have another look at Pixel who is turning out to be a fairly hyper little dog.
Blizzard is growing into a lovely girl. She is very mouthy like Balto was, and loves to bite ankles or anything within reach.

She is very sweet though and a smart little girl, who works things out very quickly.
She loves to chase the chickens and shows no fear of the peacocks.
The dogs are all glad of a rest and enjoyed an hour at the dam the day after shearing, chasing ducks.
Leena loves to swim and will stay out there all day if I let her. Balto has also discovered the joy of swimming after the ducks, but all the other dogs watch from the bank or make vain leaps along the edge. The ducks don’t fly away, they just swim around until the dog gets tantalisingly close then they either dive or fly to the other side of the dam, very funny to watch.

We will start harvesting next week. We only grow a few oats so we have a contractor come in and take it off which only takes a few days. With our old header it would take much longer. It will be good to get that over with before christmas.
Christmas is fast approaching. I have done some shopping on the internet, a much nicer way to shop in my opinion. Fighting the madding crowds is not my idea of an enjoyable christmas.
It is supposed to be a time of Joy and Peace and Love, not of racing around madly, maxing out the credit cards and getting so stressed we can’t wait for it to be over.
Sigh.
What about the real meaning of Christmas, the Birth of Christ.
People have forgotten, some never bother to find out. Jesus is there for all of us if we only look for Him and ask Him to come into our life.
Perhaps we should all just stop for a moment and think about what is important in our lives.
